“Could we have a custom…?”
Hangman and Metalman boast a vastly experienced & highly skilled team of fabricators – including sewers, painters, carpenters, welders and modellers – all working to the high quality and specification you expect. We also have a large network of regular freelancers so whatever comes up we have the capacity to get the job done, done right and done on time!
Unlike the old days, however, the quality and price of printing means that we digitally print a huge amount now. In those cases where it couldn't be tackled any other way and sometimes it will just produce a better finished result, we still have a team of talented scenic artists on hand for your job. Many of our customers would never dream of doing it any other way!
Although Hangman has made a name for itself producing weird and wonderful drapes using a wide variety of techniques in many colours, shapes and sizes we also spend many a happy day making up straight forward blacks, legs, scrims and screens.
We will make up any drape to your specification, we source fabrics from mills all over the world and we ensure that all drapes which leave our premises are manufactured to a standard which will withstand your tour and more. We also supply fire certification with all our drapes and are happy to help you negotiate the mine field that is fire retardancy regulations in Europe and the U.S. See HERE for more information on fire certification.
If you require an image on your drape then we can use a variety of techniques including painting, printing, applique or a combination to achieve this. And we're happy to advise how best to go about getting the end result you are after.
We're best known for making Iron Maiden's Eddie but we regularly handle creations ranging from intricate architectural models in plastics, through fibre-glass, aluminium and timber theatrical props up to 30' polystyrene trees... As with everything we do we use a combination of ‘old school’ and modern techniques to achieve the best results. So whether it’s creating exactly the right CNC path or sketching freehand we can advise you on the best techniques for production.
Although we’re not a lighting company we often work closely with our lampy friends to achieve a particular effect. The increase in quality and brightness of LEDs over recent years however has meant that we have found it useful to have our own in-house expertise. We are able to utilise these highly effective and customisable light sources into a variety of set pieces and drapes - whether they are stand alone or DMX controllable. Let there be light!
We've designed and built conference sets all over the globe for some of the biggest companies in the world. We can offer a complete service from concept and design to installation and although we ourselves don’t offer a full production service we can use our vast industry experience to get together the best production team for your event.
And as of December 2013 every exhibition stand we've ever designed and built has won best in show. Now there's a record we don't want to lose.
In marketing speak, this is 360° set design and construction, pulling in everything from fabrication and modelling to soft goods and our stalwart design capability.
The versatility and integration that having both a metalworking and fabrication facility & a soft goods fabrication workshop means we can design everything together, make it and fit it. The whole set can be erected in situ in our workshops so that you can see it in its entirety before it goes out on the road. More importantly, we can be sure that it will all work together before anything gets to rehearsals. We believe we're the only company in the country that can do this.
...in the most hard wearing, tourable and above all visually appealing way possible. Our designers and CAD operators can work with you to develop your ideas in aluminium or steel to produce a finished piece that will not only look stunning but will be functional, cost effective and durable.
So whether its a skate, a stage or a ship's mast we'd love to talk to you.
Or if you've got any cunning ideas for something new we'll help you design and develop it.
In fact one at least one of our cunning ideas has made a permanent addition to our rental kit – the Metalman low rider skate bar. This ingenious device enables you to fit non-clashing wheels to any lite deck without any tools required whatsoever and gives a finished deck height of just 8’’.
